Cupcake Liners

Here is all of the information you need to decide what type of cupcake liners you need. You will also find the best suppliers for cupcake and baking accessories.
Different Cupcake Liners and Their Uses
Cupcake liners are very useful tools that help bakers save a lot of cleanup trouble in the process of baking. Although simple in function and looks, they present many baking benefits that even the most novice baker can take advantage of.
Liners primarily prevent your cupcakes from sticking to the base of your baking tray or pan, and will thus save you the time and trouble of washing the pans. They also make it easy to serve and can be very appealing to the eye with the right designs and shapes. If you are putting your cupcakes into cupcake boxes they will prevent damage to the cake and stop the icing from messing up the box.
There are a few main types of cupcake liners that you can use, most notably paper, foiled and silicon ones. Although paper cupcake liners are the most common choice due to their large varied designs and relatively cheap costs, it can be good to know more about the other types so you can maximise their use.
Paper Cupcake Liners
Your standard cupcake liners that come in a wide variety of shapes and forms. Most people use paper liners for basic at home or school lunch cupcakes because they are so inexpensive. They are by default round in shape, but novelty has brought even star (yes star shapes!) and heart shapes into the market. Some cute paper liners come in printed designs and these really enhance the cupcake appearance.
A downside of paper liners though, is that they tend to stick very easily to the cake and onto one another when not spaced well on a baking tray. You can remedy this little problem by spraying non-stick cooking spray though, so it’s not a big concern here.
Foiled Cupcake Liners
These glossy and shiny alternatives to paper liners are sometimes favored for their designs. Depending on your tastes, you may find silver and golden foils a better complement to your precious cupcakes. Apart from appearances, foiled liners also tend to be less sticky compared to paper liners so they are easier to peel off. On top of that, foiled liners are considerably less prone to greasiness that paper cupcake liners are especially susceptible to. All of these are of course, minor differences so it’s all down to your preference.
Silicon Cupcake Liners
A less common variation that you will see, silicon cupcake liners
are actually reusable cupcake liners that you can wash after each use. They are pretty durable and can resist high heat temperatures so if you are looking for a long term investment, and don’t mind washing them, silicon liners can be your choice.
Remember though, that your cupcakes won’t have the protective wrapper so they are not as suited for some uses.
On the other hand they can look fabulous for presentation if you want to make cupcakes with thick icing running down the sides. Just remember to offer guests plates and napkins as they can be messy. This style of decoration is not recommended if you plan on using cupcake boxes to transport your cakes.
Most people keep a selection of plain and decorative liners to suit different uses and the serious home baker will have all three.
